How much does a haircut cost in Luton? Real prices from our list

What a haircut costs in Luton right now

Prices around this town spread wider than most people expect. You can pay under £20 at a walk in barber shop and north of £100 at a salon that has taken a smart unit in the centre. Most proper salon haircuts in Luton land somewhere between £35 and £60.

What moves the number is time on the chair, the experience of the stylist, and whether a wash and a proper finish are included. A £25 cut usually means dry cutting, twenty minutes, out the door. That is fine if that is what you booked. It is a different service to a cut and finish, so it is worth checking what you are actually paying for.

The other thing worth knowing is that a lot of the cheaper prices you see advertised are for a dry cut only. Wash, cut, dry and finish is the full thing, and that is what our £42 to £55 covers. Nothing gets added at the till.

Extensions are priced by the hour because every head is different: nano £55 an hour, tape £60 to £70 an hour, weft £70 to £80 an hour. The full list lives on our pricing page and we keep it current.

Why the price is a range and not one number

You will have noticed most of our prices have a low end and a high end. Part of that is stylist level. Sabrina and Sheree work at different rates to me, and the price reflects experience and how long someone has been building their column. Everyone in the salon is qualified and everyone does a full consultation, so you are not getting a worse haircut at £42.

Length and thickness move it too. A cut and finish on hair down to your waist takes longer to section, cut and dry than a bob does. If you are not sure where you sit, ring and describe your hair. We will give you the number before you come in.

What colour adds on top

Colour is priced on top of your cut, not instead of it. If you book a root tint and a cut and finish in the same visit, you are paying for both. Root tint at £40 to £47 plus a cut and finish at £42 to £55 puts that appointment between £82 and £102.

We patch test every new colour client, and again if you have had a long break from us. It takes two minutes and it goes in the diary at least 48 hours before your colour. Klarna is available if you would rather spread the cost of a bigger appointment. Most people use it for extensions, or for a full balayage and cut done in one sitting.

One more thing on cost. If money is tight and you want to stretch the time between appointments, say so at the consultation. There are cuts that grow out neatly and colour that grows out softly, and we would rather build you something that still looks right in ten weeks than something that needs you back in four.
