The rebrand: why we changed our name and what stayed the same

If you are looking for Dolls & Dudes, you have found us. We rebranded to The Hair Collective in 2026. Same salon on Hitchin Road, same chairs, same phone number. The name above the door is the thing that changed.

The short version

• Prices did not go up because of the rebrand.

• Our Facebook page still runs under the old Dolls & Dudes handle.

Why we rebranded

Dolls & Dudes did its job for years. The problem was that it stopped describing the salon. Almost everything we do now is womens hair: balayage, foils, toners, root work and extensions.

The old name did not say that, and a name should do some of that work for you. It should save you the explaining, not start it.

There was a practical side to it as well. Someone would hear about us from a friend, go looking for us online, and end up somewhere else entirely. If your name makes you hard to find, that costs you.

The Hair Collective says what we actually are. A group of stylists who each have their own thing, their own clients and their own strengths.

The name points at the team now. That is really all a rebrand needs to do.

What actually changed

The name. The sign outside. The website. The Instagram handle, which is now thehaircollectiveluton. And we stopped doing the old beauty side, the lashes and the gel polish, to put everything into hair.

I am still here, still on the floor, still doing colour.

What stayed the same

The way we work. Proper consultations before colour, honest advice about what your hair will and will not do, and no pressure to book more than you need.

The prices. A cut and finish is still £42 to £55 and a blow dry is £28 to £35. A restyle is £60, and hair up is £35 to £50.

Colour has not moved either. Full balayage is £70 to £85, half is £55 to £65, partial is £40 to £60. A full head of foils is £70 to £85. Root tint is £40 to £47 and a toner is £35 to £40, or £20 if you have it added on to something else.

Extensions are still charged by the hour. Nano is £55, tape is £60 to £70, weft is £70 to £80. The full list is on our pricing page if you want to check before you book.

The patch tests. We still patch test before colour, exactly as we always did. If you have ever reacted to hair dye, or to anything else that sits on your skin, tell us at the consultation. A reaction to dye is a form of contact dermatitis, and it is worth taking seriously, which is why the test needs to happen a couple of days before your appointment rather than on the day.

Klarna is still there too, if you want to spread the cost of a bigger colour or an extensions fitting.

If you were a Dolls & Dudes client

You do not need to do anything. There is no new account to set up and no rebooking to sort out. The way you book has not changed.

If you have been putting off coming back because you saw a different name and were not sure it was still us, it is still us. Same chairs, same kettle, same people asking about your holiday.

The reviews came with us too. The ones people wrote when we were Dolls & Dudes are still there on the site. We were not going to start from zero and act like the last few years did not happen.

We are open Tuesday and Wednesday 10 to 8, Thursday 10 to 6, Friday 10 to 3, and Saturday 10 to 4:30. Closed Sunday and Monday.
